2023 is behind us and what a truly great year of podcasting it was. Between reshaping the format of the show to follow twelve monthly themes and embarking on two massive projects all the way to getting to speak to Michael Lehmann, the director of Hudson Hawk, it was something else! Here’s everything we recorded in December!

We have inched ever closer to the finish line of our titanic Soderbergh project as we talked about two of his more recent films, Let Them All Talk and No Sudden Move.

Episode 149 (Let Them All Talk) (Soderbergh Deep Cut)

Soderbergh Shallow Cut 12 (No Sudden Move) (full episode on Patreon)

The main theme for the month of December that we settled on revolved around holiday-themed slashers and horrors, so we picked a handful of Christmas-related movies and one particularly suitable for the arrival of the New Year.

Episode 150 (Silent Night, Deadly Night)

Episode 151 (Krampus)

Episode 152 (Anna and the Apocalypse)

Episode 153 (Terror Train)

Bonus Tie-in 29 (Black Christmas) (full episode on Patreon)

Finally, we recorded the last episode of our 2023 John Cassavetes Marathon where we talked about his last directorial effort Big Trouble. We also spent some time reflecting on this journey, sharing some best moments and ranking our favourite Cassavetes movies.

Thus, 2023 was concluded. 2024 is looking to be an even more fun experience as, once the Soderbergh journey is completed in January, we will be embarking on a journey through the cinema of Spike Lee. Meanwhile, on the Patreon we decided to explore the works of Kathryn Bigelow in a comprehensive marathon. This is all in addition to twelve new themes, this time all tied together somehow, because it’s fun to do silly things like this.

Happy New Year!
