Now that we are hopefully done trudging through the doldrums of winter and Spring sunshine peers shyly through the clouds, it might be a good idea to look back at what we were up to in February over at the Uncut Gems Podcast and its Patreon bonus content.
The main topic of our February deliberations concerned the cinema of Antoine Fuqua, which also counted as marking the Black History Month celebrated in the American jurisdictions in February. We chose to talk about a handful of his earlier efforts, starting with his debut The Replacement Killers, and then followed it up with Bait, Tears of the Sun and Shooter. These conversations were accompanied by our Patreon-exclusive bonus chat on Fuqua’s most acclaimed effort Training Day.
Episode 210 (The Replacement Killers)
Episode 211 (Bait)
Episode 212 (Tears of the Sun)
Episode 213 (Shooter)
Bonus Tie-in 45 (Training Day) (full episode on Patreon)
Our brand new 50-30 series where we talk about iconic movies from 1975 and 1995 followed on with a great conversation about the Mel Gibson-directed, Oscar-winning Braveheart.
The 50-30 Series 02 (Braveheart) (full episode on Patreon)
Last but not least, our Mike Nichols marathon added another entry, and what an entry that was! We talked about his sophomore hit that blew open the door to The New Hollywood and earned Nichols his Best Director Oscar, which is of course The Graduate. Enjoy!
