November was a truly special month because we got to celebrate Randy’s eponymous achievement of completing fifty laps around the Sun. To mark this occasion we decided to dedicate the month to the cinema of Bob Fosse, one of Randy’s favourite directors.
However, before we did so, we stopped over at the Soderbergh hotel for the eleventh time to talk about The Laundromat and High Flying Bird, two of his more recent entries.
Episode 145 (The Laundromat) (Soderbergh Deep Cut)
Soderbergh Shallow Cut 11 (High Flying Bird) (full episode on Patreon)
We then proceed to spend the majority of the month discussing the cinema of Bob Fosse in exquisite detail, as we talked about his entire directorial catalogue, from Sweet Charity and Cabaret (which is a free-to-listen episode unlocked on our Patreon) all the way to Star 80. We also paid special attention to All That Jazz, which is Randy’s favourite film of all time and we made sure this conversation would go down in history. Which I believe it did.
Episode 146 (Sweet Charity and Lenny)
Episode 147 (All That Jazz)
Episode 148 (Star 80)
Bonus Tie-in 28 (Cabaret) (full episode on Patreon) FREE TO LISTEN!!!
Finally, we finished the month with the eleventh episode of the John Cassavetes Marathon where we discussed Love Streams, finality, and the poetic ways in which the filmmaker was taking stock of his entire work.
