Boy, was May a crazy month full of wonderful recordings, unforeseen developments and surprises! Here’s what we managed to accomplish this month over at Uncut Gems Podcast!

Our monthly check-in with the Soderbergh project ended up quite packed, to be honest. We temporarily abandoned the correct chronology of movies to accommodate his widely regarded Ocean’s Trilogy, which we discussed in a bonus Patreon recording. Over on the main show, however, we ended up going to the end of the galaxy to find inner piece and solace as we talked about Solaris.

In April we explored a bunch of 90s superhero movies, so for the month of May we settled on staying in the 90s vibes, but we chose to talk about some heist movies from that era. Granted, there’s plenty more we left on the shelf (and maybe one day we’ll come back for more), but for now we chose Bottle Rocket, Sneakers and Hudson Hawk. And as a Bonus Tie-in we thought it was the perfect excuse to have an honest chat about Michael Mann’s Heat. Also, thanks to our good buddy Ian who also guested on the Bottle Rocket recording, we organized a conversation of a lifetime, as we had a wonderful opportunity to speak with Michael Lehmann, the director of Hudson Hawk, about Hollywood in the 90s, the trials and tribulations of making Hudson Hawk, the fact people didn’t get the movie at the time, his sense of humour, inspirations and much more! All in all, thanks to this fantastic opportunity, May at Uncut Gems Podcast went down in history!
